Email marketing is the fastest way to communicate to a list of prospects and get them to respond to your offer. However, in order to have a successful email marketing campaign, your emails must be able to pass the spam filter test. If your campaign fails to go pass the spam filter, the time and effort you put in to create your email copy will go down the drains.
Sometimes, spam filters are not 100% accurate and they end up blocking even legitimate emails. The reason why some legitimate emails are blocked is because certain issues of the email copy trigger off the spam filter. To prevent this from happening, let me share with you a few tips to get your email pass the spam filter:
1. Do not use toxic words. Toxic words like "free", "discount", "sale" and "loans" will trigger the spam filter. So avoid using these words in the body and subject line of your email message.
2. Try to limit your graphics. Most of the webmail services do not allow images to be displayed automatically. If your email copy contains a lot of graphics, it will be blocked. Therefore, I advise you to use a simple template that does not have excessive graphics. If possible, try to use plain text.
3. Try to keep a suitable time gap between bulk emails. Do not send all your emails at once. If you send emails with really short intervals, it is likely that your email messages will pass through the spam filters but end up in the junk box. This is something you do not want to happen. So regulate the time intervals between bulk emails.
4. Clean list. Keeping a clean list is very important if you want your email messages to pass through the spam filters. You should clean your list every month by removing subscribers who have opted to unsubscribe. Delete them permanently from your list.
Also, you should remove all the email addresses that have bounced back. Keeping a clean list ensures that you will not be blacklisted by the webmail service providers. Last but not least, you should always use a reputable email broadcast platform to blast your email. A trusted platform will ensure that your emails pass through the spam filters more frequently.
Hope that you put the tips that I have shared with you into good use. Avoid using spam words and create a successful email campaign today.
